Florida officials say man fatally stabbed girlfriend, infant, then himself at home

BROOKSVILLE, Fla. — Tampa Bay area officials say a man fatally stabbed his girlfriend, her nine-month old infant son and then himself.

The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office reported today that 28-year-old Jamil Etayem stabbed 23-year-old Roseanna Sanson, and her son, Carter, multiple times.

A concerned citizen called deputies Thursday evening and requested a welfare check at the home, which is in a gated community. When deputies arrived, they discovered the bodies. Sheriff Al Nienhuis called the scene “horrific.”

Etayem and his girlfriend moved to Florida from Ohio in late July.

Deputies were called to the home twice this summer. Etayem was arrested in late August and charged with one count of domestic battery. He was released from the Hernando County Detention Center the next day after posting bail.
