PHOENIX — Authorities are trying to determine the cause of death of a passenger on a flight from Nebraska to Arizona.

Allegiant Air officials say the incident occurred Wednesday afternoon on Flight 115 from Grand Isle, Neb.

Allegiant spokesman Justin Ralenkotter told Phoenix TV station KPHO that as the plane approached Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport, the flight crew declared a medical emergency.

After the plane touched down at the Mesa airport, fire department officials say the passenger was pronounced dead.

The passenger’s name hasn’t been released yet. Authorities said Thursday that the Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office was working to determine the cause of death.
