FLINT, Mich. — Authorities are investigating a wrong-way collision on a Michigan highway that killed a new bride and critically injured her 11-year-old son.

MLive.com reports Monday that 36-year-old Maria Bailey-Collins was heading north on U.S. 23 in Mundy Township with her new husband and son Sunday night when their car was slammed into by another car heading south.

Bailey-Collins of Mount Morris Township and her husband, Bryan Collins, were married Thursday. Bryan Collins was in stable condition Monday at a hospital.

The 18-year-old driver of the other car suffered minor injuries and is being held by police.

Police say calls about the wrong-way driver began coming into the 911 center about 10:13 p.m. Sunday. The cars collided about 10:15 p.m. on the highway south of Flint in Genesee County.
