PONTIAC, Mich. — Deputies checking on a report that neighbors hadn’t seen a man since last fall have found the Pontiac resident dead in his bed.

The Oakland County sheriff’s department patrols the city of 60,000, which is operating under a state-appointed emergency financial manager.

Neighbors contacted the department, saying they last saw the 53-year-old man in October. They say his snow went unplowed all winter, and his truck was in the driveway.

The department says deputies forced the front door open Thursday evening and found the man’s body. They say he’d been dead a long time and say dated food items in the trash indicate he may have been alive in December.

An autopsy is planned.
