Western Michigan industrial accident kills worker, 49; man trapped in food plant conveyor belt
5/10/2014ZEELAND, Mich. — A 49-year-old western Michigan man has died after becoming trapped in a conveyor belt at an Ottawa County plant.
Authorities say fire and rescue personnel had to free the man from the machine about 2 a.m. today at a Hillshire Farms plant in Zeeland, southwest of Grand Rapids.
The Grand Rapids man was pronounced dead at the scene. His name was not immediately released.
The incident is under investigation.
