Lockdown lifted at Detroit airport

ROMULUS, Mich. — A lockdown at Detroit Metropolitan Airport prompted by a passenger who left a secure area, then re-entered without submitting to a security check, has ended after more than two hours.

Transportation Security Administration Press Secretary Ross Feinstein tells the Detroit Free Press that TSA and law enforcement agencies have “given the all clear.”

Airport spokesman Michael Conway says the incident happened about 9 p.m. EDT and triggered the locking of gates around the airport’s McNamara Terminal, the facility’s largest.

Conway says authorities found the man, took him into custody and don’t believe he presents any further security risk.

Conway says agents then searched the terminal as a precaution.

Feinstein says the man remained in custody late Thursday.
