    Jacob Brown shows a Petoskey stone after hearing the legend of the stones. he stones were formed by glaciation, in which ice plucked stones from the bedrock, grinding off rough edges and depositing them in a portion of Michigan s Lower Peninsula. But the legend says a Mother Bear has been leaving her tears on the beaches of Lake Michigan for hundreds of years.
