Scholarships: Michigan

Judi DePeal of Walbridge and Lindsey Przeniczny of Lambertville, Mich., students at Owens Community College, have been chosen to receive $1,400 scholarships through the Owens Alumni Legacy Endowed Scholarship program.

Selection for the scholarship program is based upon applicants being a son or daughter of an alumni association member and having a 3.0 cumulative grade point average or higher as an Owens student or soon-to-be high school graduate.

Ms. Przeniczny, a 2007 graduate of Bedford High School, is in the dental hygiene program and intends to pursue a bachelor s degree after graduating from the program.

She was a member of the National Honor Society and is active in several social and church groups. Her community involvement includes Relay for Life, outreach to the elderly, food collection for the needy, and blood drives.

Ms. DePeal, a physical therapist assistant student, is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, the Owens Student Physical Therapist Assistant Associates Organization, and the American Physical Therapy Association.

She is also an Ohio Master Gardener and volunteers at the Simpson Garden Park in Bowling Green and the Wood County Park District.

Patrick Kramer of Holland, a 2004 graduate of St. John s Jesuit, received a $2,500 NetJets scholarship in aviation. Patrick is a senior majoring in Aviation and Aircraft Systems at Ohio State University.

Justin Killion of Toledo has been awarded a $2,500 scholarship by the Machinery Dealers National Association s Austin D. Lucas Scholarship Fund for this academic year. Justin will be a student at the University of Michigan.

Recipients are judged on academics, extracurricular activities, and essay questions, and are children of employees of MDNA member firms. Justin is the son of Jeffrey Killion at Universal Tube and Rollform Equipment Corp.
