Student of the Week: Hillarie Meiring

Hillarie Meiring, a senior from Temperance, plans to attend Bowling Green State University to study music, musical theater, and English.

She has a 4.0 grade-point average and enjoys English, journalism, choir, independent music study, and band.

Hillarie has received an academic honors scholarship from BGSU and was awarded a $1,000 scholarship as the Monroe County Star Search winner.

She has attended the Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Conference, is involved in the National Honors Community Outreach Programs, and is active in the student ministries of her church.

A member of the varsity track team, the Whiteford High School select chorale, and women's ensemble, she has been in several high school musicals.

"Hillarie is an intelligent, multitalented young lady who meets challenges with enthusiasm," said English teacher Mimi Ehlen. "She is always grounded by her strong faith and values."

Hillarie is the daughter of Arnold and Tracy Meiring.
