  • Like the 'Iron Chef' television show in which cooks compete through their culinary creations, students in southeast Michigan pitted their skills against each other in a craft competition. Crafts 2000, a Monroe store, played host to the competition for the fourth consecutive year at its South Dixie Highway location. Students from Mason High School put the finishing touches on their creation; they are, left foreground, Meghan McGarry; right foreground, Cara Sharp; left background, Felisa Barres, and Gabby Valez. Each is a senior.

Catelyn Murphy reaches over to affix a part of the craft done by fellow students from Jefferson High, with Brandy Weines watching. Each of them is a senior.
