Student of the Week: Alyssa White

Alyssa White, a senior from Ottawa Lake, plans to study pharmacy at Ohio Northern University. Her favorite subjects are chemistry and calculus and she has a 4.0 grade-point average.

A four-year Scholar-Athlete and former Monroe County Academic All-Star, Alyssa has been class treasurer for four years, and has achieved All-League in volleyball and basketball, and All-League, All District, and All-Region in softball.

She is co-captain of the volleyball and basketball teams and a member of 4-H Jeans and Jodphurs Club. Alyssa has volunteered at blood drives and taken part in the Relay for Life and the Walk to D'Feet ALS.

"Alyssa is a wonderful person and student, [and] a hard-working member of my girl's basketball team," said Jim Ross, English teacher and varsity girls' basketball coach.

Alyssa is the daughter of Ken and Laurie White.
