College planetarium to host public forums

2/10/2009

ADRIAN Adrian College is presenting two planetarium shows for the public to learn more about the night sky.

Each month, the college will host a What s up in the Sky Tonight? show with a discussion about the bright stars, planets, and constellations visible at the time.

The first program will be 7 p.m. Feb. 13, with additional shows at 7 p.m. March 20 and April 17. The other show, called Follow the Drinking Gourd, based on the book by the same name written by Jeanette Winter, will be at 7 p.m. Feb. 19 and 20.

The program is geared toward children and journeys back in time to how constellations helped slaves navigate the Underground Railroad.

The programs are free at the college s Robinson Planetarium, which is in Peele Hall at Charles and Williams streets.
