•Lenawee County Library, 4459 West U.S. 223, seeks bakers for its Cake-off, Bake-off Oct. 12. Bake a cake, cookies, pies, cupcakes, brownies, and the like, with a book theme; attendees can buy homemade treats or vote for the favorite cake. Bedford

•29th annual Arts for Our Future juried show Nov. 1 at the Bedford Library, 8575 Jackman Rd. in Temperance. It is sponsored by the Bedford Community Arts Council and the Bedford Library. •34th annual Miss Northwestern Ohio Scholarship Pageant, a preliminary to the Miss Ohio and Miss America scholarship pageants, will be Nov. 14 in the Defiance Community Auditorium. The pageant committee is seeking female contestants between the ages of 17 and 24, who are single, never been married or pregnant, and live, work or go to school in Ohio. The areas of competition are talent, interview, swimsuit, and evening wear. There are no entry fees. The program is affiliated with the Children's Miracle Network, and each contestant will be asked to obtain sponsors to contribute a combined $100 to the Children's Miracle Network.
