The Jerusalem Township boy who last year first headed up a drive for denim to be turned into insulation in areas affected by natural disasters collected 4,154 items this year, enough to insulate more than eight houses.

Jerusalem Elementary fifth grader Erek Hansen, who was behind collecting 1,684 denim items last year after reading about the effort in National Geographic Kids magazine, is working with Cotton Inc., an organization that recycles denim into insulation.
