DOUGLAS LOVELL

Ida High School

Doug Lovell's dedication to his students, fellow staff members, and the school as a whole makes him an outstanding asset to Ida High School.

He is a hard-working, kind-hearted individual who always goes out of his way to help the students and staff of our community. He is always willing to give up his time outside work to assist whenever needed.

In addition to teaching senior English and heading the newspaper and yearbook staffs, Mr. Lovell is president and chief negotiator for the Teachers' Union of Ida Public Schools, volunteers as assistant athletic director, and is an accomplished photographer.

"I have worked with Mr. Lovell for nearly fourteen years at Ida High School," said Bert Wagner, assistant principal. "During this time, he has displayed integrity and professionalism, has played a leadership role among his teacher colleagues, and has been an exemplary role model for the high school students. It has been my privilege to work with Doug. He has been president of the teachers' union for years and chief negotiator for the teachers' contracts. Doug has also been supportive of the administrative staff, volunteering to chaperone at school dances and as the assistant athletic director. Over the years, I have observed that Mr. Lovell is very accommodating of the special-needs students as well. Overall, it has been an honor to work with this gentleman."

Mr. Lovell has a bachelor of arts degree in health education and journalism from Central Michigan University, a master of corrections science degree from the University of Detroit, a master of social work degree from the University of Michigan, and a master of science degree in educational leadership and educational administration from Concordia University.

He is also a dedicated husband, father, teacher, and friend.
