COLUMBUS - New coach Thad Matta will take his first Ohio State team to Clemson, Dallas, Baton Rouge - and even the team's former home court, St. John Arena - during the 2004-2005 season.

Ohio State's schedule was announced yesterday, with the Buckeyes opening the season on Nov. 15 against Towson State at home in the opening round of the Guardians Classic.

Saint Joseph's, which rose as high as No. 1 late last season, will visit Value City Arena on New Year's Eve.

The Buckeyes face nonconference road games against Clemson on Dec. 1 in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge, and also travel to Dallas to play Texas Tech and coach Bob Knight on Dec. 16.

They will face LSU in Baton Rouge on Jan. 15, after starting Big Ten play.

Ohio State returns to St. John Arena to play Tennessee-Chattanooga on Nov. 27 not because of nostalgia but rather a scheduling conflict at Value City Arena.
