OSU jumps 2 spots to No. 7; UM slips to No. 18

LSU fell out of the top 10 yesterday while Auburn moved in, the result of a one-point game decided by a second-chance extra point.

Defending BCS champion LSU dropped eight spots to No. 13 in The Associated Press media poll after losing 10-9 at Auburn on Saturday. Auburn moved up five spots to No. 9.

Ohio State (3-0) jumped two spots to No. 7 after winning at North Carolina State 22-14. Michigan (2-1) fell one place to No. 18 after slipping by San Diego State 24-21.

"Is this a turning point? No, I think it's just a point that people will recognize that we've got a pretty decent team and things are going to just heat up on us," Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville said. "We're going to see if we can handle it."

The top four teams in the rankings were unchanged with Southern California keeping a firm hold on the top with 54 first-place votes. No. 2 Oklahoma had 10 first-place votes. No. 3 Georgia received the remaining first-place vote, despite showing little offense in a 13-3 victory over Marshall.
