Sanzenbacher to be in OSU lineup for Minnesota
9/26/2007COLUMBUS - Ohio State freshman receiver Dane Sanzenbacher from Toledo's Central Catholic High School should be back in the Buckeyes' lineup for Saturday night's game at Minnesota, Ohio State coach Jim Tressel said yesterday.
Sanzenbacher, who had moved into a role with the starters prior to the beginning of the season, was injured in the Buckeyes' 33-14 win at Washington on Sept. 15.
Tressel did not identify the nature of the injury, other than to say Sanzenbacher had been "whacked pretty good."
Sanzenbacher did not dress for last weekend's 58-7 rout of Northwestern, the Big Ten opener.
"Getting Dane back is a good thing, because Dane's going to be good, he's going to be a good player," Tressel said about the two-time City League player of the year. "And he gives you a little threat on the field."
In the first three games of the season, Sanzenbacher had five receptions for 27 yards.
In other injury related news, Tressel said freshman tailback Brandon Saine, out with a sprained ankle, would not play this weekend and was only "50-50" for the game at Purdue next week.
Tressel added that sophomore kicker Aaron Pettrey, expected to return to the active lineup last weekend after missing the previous three games with a muscle strain, was tight in pregame warm-ups and therefore not available for the Northwestern game. He is not likely to play at Minnesota.
Tressel said junior defensive end Lawrence Wilson, who suffered a broken leg in the season-opener, would not likely be available until a potential bowl game.
