COLUMBUS - Jamar Butler set the Ohio State career record for 3-pointers made and Kosta Koufos recorded his first career double-double as the Buckeyes rolled over Virginia Military Institute with a 90-57 victory last night.

The game was played in St. John Arena, the home of the Buckeyes from 1956-1998, before a crowd of 6,670 fans.

Butler has made 157 3-pointers after making four of eight to finish with 12 points. Brent Darby (2000-03) and Scoonie Penn (1999-2000) are second on the career list at 153.

Koufos had 22 points and 14 rebounds for Ohio State, which shot 52 percent from the field.

Three other Ohio State players reached double figures. David Lighty scored 11 and Matt Terwilliger and Evan Turner each scored 10 points for the Buckeyes (4-1), who shot 52 percent from the field (32 of 62).

The Buckeyes outrebounded VMI 55-31 and outscored the Keydets 22-2 at the free throw line.

Reggie Williams led VMI with 17 points. The Keydets shot only 30 percent from the field.

Ohio State plays at home at 9 p.m. Wednesday in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge against No. 1 North Carolina.

NO. 4 KANSAS 76, ARIZONA 72

LAWRENCE, Kan. - Brandon Rush scored five of his 17 points in overtime, including two dunks on his surgically repaired knee, helping Kansas pull out a tough victory.

Rush expected to be playing in the NBA this season, but a torn ACL during a pickup game over the summer changed his plans.

After being eased back into the lineup his first two games back, he was much more of a factor against the Wildcats, driving hard to the basket, and bouncing up quickly after hitting the floor hard a couple of times.

Darrell Arthur had 20 points and Mario Chalmers added 14 for Kansas (5-0), off to its best start since winning its first 14 games in 2004-05.

Arizona (3-2) rallied from an early deficit and kept it close to the end, thanks to Chase Budinger and Jerryd Bayless. Budinger had 27 points and helped the Wildcats come back from an 11-point deficit, and Bayless hit some key shots down the stretch to finish with 19.

No. 9 Washington 71,

SPOKANE - Derrick Low made six second-half 3-pointers and scored 19 points to help Washington State in the Cougar Hispanic College Fund Challenge.

Taylor Rochestie led all scorers with 22 points and Kyle Weaver added 15 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists for Washington State, which trailed at halftime.

Low, who sat out most of the first half after two quick fouls, made 6 of 8 3-pointers for Washington State (6-0), which won all three games in its round-robin tournament.

Tim Anderson scored 15 for Air Force (5-2), which lost its second consecutive game. Evan Washington added 14.

No. 13 Duke 78,

DURHAM, N.C. - Freshman Taylor King scored a career-high 27 points to lead Duke to a rout of Eastern Kentucky.

DeMarcus Nelson had 12 points and Gerald Henderson added 10 for the Blue Devils (6-0), who played their first game on the mainland since winning the Maui Invitational and showed no effects of jet lag.

Duke never looked back after a dominant first half in which the Colonels made just four of 17 shots and had 18 turnovers. The Blue Devils never trailed, led 34-12 at the break and cruised to their NCAA-best 54th straight nonconference victory at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Adam Leonard had 12 points and leading scorer Mike Rose added 11 for Eastern Kentucky (2-3), an NCAA tournament team last season that lost its 11th straight game against a ranked opponent.

No. 18 Kansas State 82, Rider 69

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. - Andre Gilbert scored 22 points, Jacob Pullen added 19 points and five assists and Kansas State held off Rider in the Old Spice Classic.

The Wildcats' Michael Beasley had 13 points and 10 rebounds - his sixth double-double in as many games, but well short of the 30-plus points he had been scoring. Walker added 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Jason Thompson led Rider (3-3) with 23 points. Young brother Ryan Thompson added 21 points and 12 rebounds.

K-State (5-1) led as many as 17, but Rider pulled within 71-64 after Ryan Thompson made his second straight driving layup. He hit a third drive with 3:31 left to make it a four-point game, but the Broncs went the last 3:31 without a field goal.

North Carolina State 69, No. 20 Villanova 68

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. - Gavin Grant hit two of three free throws with 0.4-second left and North Carolina State beat Villanova to win the Old Spice Classic Championship.

Villanova (4-1) seemed to clinch the win when Dante Cunningham tipped in a missed layup with 2.2 seconds remaining, but Cunningham fouled Grant the next trip down.

He missed the first one, then drained the other two. Villanova threw a long inbound pass, but it bounced up and off the backboard as time expired.

Courtney Fells had 21 points for N.C. State (4-1), while J.J. Hickson and Grant each added 15.

Miami (Ohio) 67,

ANAHEIM, Calif. - Tyler Dierkers tipped in the go-ahead basket with 1:06 remaining, helping Miami (Ohio) to a win for third place in the Anaheim Classic.

Michael Bramos stole the ball at midcourt from Ben Hansbrough, younger brother of North Carolina star Tyler Hansbrough, and scored for a 62-58 lead with 41 seconds left. Bramos made the free throw, then got fouled on the RedHawks' next possession and made both for a 64-58 lead with 26 seconds left.

Bramos finished with 30 points, going 9-of-11 from the free-throw line. Tim Pollitz added 15 points for Miami (3-1), whose only loss in the three-day tournament was to Southern California. Dierkers added 10 assists and nine rebounds.

Charles Rhodes led the Bulldogs (3-3) with 25 points, becoming the 29th player in school history to score 1,000 points. He has 1,002. The senior forward grabbed 10 rebounds, putting him six away from going over the 500 mark.

For the first time this season, the RedHawks were outrebounded, 36-29. But they held Mississippi State under 70 points for the 38th consecutive game, the nation's longest streak.

Jamont Gordon added 18 points for the Bulldogs, whose only victory in Anaheim was against UC Irvine in the first round.

Miami blew all of a 12-point lead early in the second half, with Rhodes and Gordon doing most of the scoring for Mississippi State.
