MILWAUKEE – Ohio State used its distinct advantage in size on the perimeter and overall athleticism to defeat the University of California Santa Barbara in the NCAA Midwest Regional here last night.

The Buckeyes eventually dominated the Gauchos in a 68-51 win that puts Ohio State (28-7) in tomorrow's second round game at 2:20 p.m. here at the Bradley Center against Georgia Tech (23-12).

Ohio State swarmed all over Santa Barbara from the start, forcing the Gauchos to burn all but one second of the shot clock on several occasions early in the game.

"I thought our defense was about as sound as it could be," Ohio State coach Thad Matta said after the Buckeyes limited Santa Barbara to just 32 percent shooting on the night.
