COLUMBUS - Dane Sanzenbacher's still-developing Ohio State memoirs already included a Rose Bowl championship, three Big Ten titles, three wins over Michigan, and a touchdown reception in his first game as a Buckeye.

The senior season chapter for the former Central Catholic standout is opening with the Ohio State team's highest internal honor - Sanzenbacher has been elected captain of the 2010 Buckeyes.

Craig Krenzel, Eddie George, Chris Spielman, Rex Kern, Archie Griffin - the captains club at Ohio State has many Buckeye greats as members. Sanzenbacher joins Bryant Browning, Cameron Heyward, Ross Homan, Brian Rolle, and Brandon Saine as the captains for this season - just the second time in OSU's 121 years of football that six players have been chosen for the role.

"It's a real honor to be mentioned among these great leaders," Sanzenbacher said yesterday. "I don't think it will change much for me; I just want to continue to contribute to this program any way I can."

Sanzenbacher, the former two-time City League player of the year who led Central Catholic to the 2005 state championship, has 69 receptions and eight touchdowns in his three seasons with the Buckeyes. He and the rest of the Buckeyes open the 2010 season next Thursday night against Marshall in Ohio Stadium.
