Tressel expects to face 'tough', 'fast' team from Miami
9/7/2010COLUMBUS – Ohio State coach Jim Tressel said in his Tuesday news conference that he expects No.13 Miami to bring a “tough and fast” team into Ohio Stadium for Saturday's showdown with the No. 2 ranked Buckeyes.
Both Ohio State and Miami scored one-sided wins in the first week of the season. The Buckeyes beat Marshall 45-7, while Miami took out Florida A&M 45-0.
Ohio State has not faced the Hurricanes since the 2002 National Championship game, won by the Buckeyes in double-overtime. Tressel said he did not think the outcome of that game nearly eight years ago will have much to do with the preparation for Saturday.
“That was a long time ago,” Tressel said.
In preparing for the Hurricanes this time around, Tressel said that although the Buckeyes played well overall against Marshall, his team will have to upgrade its work, across the board.
“We've got to do it all better,” Tressel said. “If we don't, it won't be enough.”
Tressel also said DE Nate Williams, who missed the Marshall game with a knee sprain he suffered in pre-season practice, has been back at work on the practice field and should be ready to play against Miami.
