Ohio State cruises past Miami
9/11/2010COLUMBUS – The No. 2 ranked Ohio State Buckeyes defeated No. 12 Miami 36-24 Saturday in front of an announced crowd of 105,545 – the sixth largest in Ohio Stadium history.
The Buckeyes'defense feasted on Miami quarterback Jacory Harris, intercepting him four times. Ohio State's Devin Barclay tied a school record with five field goals.
The Buckeyes' touchdowns in the game came on an 18-yard pass from Terrelle Pryor to Brandon Saine, a four-yard run by Dan Herron, and a 13-yard run by Pryor. Pryor's scramble for a score made it 33-17 early in the second half.
Ohio State's special teams continued to struggle, however, allowing two kick return touchdowns by Miami in the first half. Ohio State allowed an 88-yard kickoff return, and a 79-yard punt return, both for scores. Last week against Marshall, Ohio State (2-0) had a blocked field goal returned for a touchdown.
Ohio State was on the Miami six yardline with almost two minutes left, but elected to down the ball on three straight plays instead of trying to score.
It was the first time the two traditional powers had met since Ohio State defeated Miami in two overtimes to win the 2002 National Championship game.
