Tressel says Pryor OK, confirms Moeller lost for season
10/5/2010COLUMBUS – Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor is on the mend and is getting “closer to 100 percent each day,” Buckeyes coach Jim Tressel said Tuesday at his weekly news conference.
Tressel expects Pryor, who was injured in last Saturday's win at Illinois, to be ready to play for this week's Big Ten home game against Indiana.
“I think he'll be fine,” Tressel said.
Pryor strained his left thigh muscle in the third quarter at Illinois, stumbled awkwardly on a running play without being hit, and then had to be helped off the field. He limped to the locker room, trainers wrapped the injury, and Pryor returned to finish the game, a 23-14 Ohio State victory.
Tressel also confirmed Tuesday that senior defensive back Tyler Moeller is out for the season after tearing a pectoral muscle early in the Illinois game. Tressel said Ohio State will file an appeal with the NCAA to seek another year of eligibility for Moeller.
Moeller was expected to start at linebacker in the 2009 season, but suffered a life-threatening head injury when he was assaulted at a Florida sports bar/restaurant shortly before pre-season camp opened.
Moeller needed surgery to relieve the pressure inside his skull. He missed all of last season, but earned a starting role this August at the “star” position, which is a hybrid linebacker/defensive back used by the second-ranked Buckeyes on the majority of plays.
