Ohio State freshman running back Bri’onte Dunn will not face drug charges after a review of the circumstances surrounding his weekend traffic stop in Alliance, the Canton Repository reported Tuesday.

Alliance City Law Director Andrew Zumbar told the newspaper he plans to charge Dunn, a Canton GlenOak graduate, only with disorderly conduct and a seat belt violation. Both charges are misdemeanors.

According to the incident report, Dunn was driving a 2001 Dodge Stratus registered to his mother, Donna Glover, late Saturday night when he was stopped for nearly running a blinking red light. After Alliance police found a small amount of marijuana and a wooden pipe in the car, Dunn and an 18-year-old female passenger were both cited for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and failing to wear a seat belt. Dunn was also charged with a tail-light infraction.

Dunn told police the marijuana and paraphernalia did not belong to him. Zumbar told the Repository that Glover arrived at the scene and said the marijuana was in the car before Dunn and his passenger used it.

An Ohio State spokesman said the school has no comment. A message to Zumbar was not immediately returned.
