Buckeyes' Dunn passes drug test

Ohio State freshman running back Bri'onte Dunn reportedly passed a team-mandated drug test Tuesday -- a day after the five-star prospect from Canton GlenOak learned he will not face drug charges related to his weekend traffic stop in Alliance.

Dunn will be charged only with disorderly conduct and a seat belt violation after a review of the circumstances surrounding the Saturday night incident, the Canton Repository reported. Dunn was found with no illegal drugs in his system during an independently issued test in Columbus, the player's father, Brion Dunn, told the newspaper.

According to the incident report, Dunn was driving a 2001 Dodge Stratus registered to his mother, Donna Hatcher, late Saturday night when he was stopped for nearly running a blinking red light. After Alliance police found a small amount of marijuana and a wooden pipe in the car, Dunn and an 18-year-old female passenger were both cited for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and failing to wear a seat belt. Dunn was also charged with a tail-light infraction.

Alliance City Law Director Andrew Zumbar told the Repository that Dunn was polite throughout the stop and denied the marijuana and paraphernalia belonged to him. Zumbar said Hatcher arrived at the scene and told police the marijuana was in the car before Dunn and his passenger borrowed it.

An Ohio State spokesman said the school has no comment. Messages to Zumbar were not returned.

Dunn, a five-star recruit who rushed for more than 5,000 yards in high school, enrolled at Ohio State in January. He ran for 32 yards on seven carries in the Buckeyes' spring game.
