COLUMBUS — Ohio State freshman safety and Central Catholic graduate Jayme Thompson will be out three months after breaking his ankle in practice today.

Thompson will have screws inserted into his ankle in surgery Thursday morning, his father, Deon Thompson, told The Blade.

A four-star prospect who helped lead the Fighting Irish to a Division II state title last season, Thompson appeared in the fray for early playing time — likely on special teams. He is on schedule to return to practice in November, though a redshirt season appears likely.

Ohio State practiced in full pads today for the second time in preseason camp, which began Sunday.
