COLUMBUS — The Ohio State basketball team’s search for shooting help has hit pay dirt.

Austin Grandstaff, a 6-foot-5 Texas native ranked among the nation’s top shooting guards in the Class of 2015, pledged to Ohio State on the spot during a weekend campus visit. He later confirmed the commitment on Twitter.

A junior at Rockwall High outside Dallas, Grandstaff averaged 27.1 points last year and is a consensus top-50 recruit. Rivals.com pegged him as the No. 30 overall prospect in his class.

Grandstaff, who follows Plano, Texas, forward Mickey Mitchell and Dayton point guard A.J. Harris as the third commitment in the 2015 class, originally decided on Oklahoma State before re-opening the courtship in February. He chose OSU over Arizona, Florida, and Texas among others.
