COLUMBUS — Reserve defensive lineman Jamal Marcus has been dismissed from the Ohio State football team for a violation of team rules, according to a report by ElevenWarriors.com.

A message seeking confirmation from Ohio State was not immediately returned.

Marcus, a redshirt junior, started at defensive end in last season’s Orange Bowl in place of suspended starter Noah Spence.

But he could not take the next step, missing time during spring practice because of academic issues and falling on the depth chart.
