Ohio State lineman pleads no contest to reduced charge
7/31/2014COLUMBUS — Former Ohio State defensive end Tracy Sprinkle reportedly pleaded no contest in Lorain Municipal Court today to a reduced charge of attempted failure to comply for his involvement in a wild bar brawl earlier this month.
Ohio State coach Urban Meyer removed Sprinkle from the team after the second-year backup was originally charged with cocaine possession, rioting, and failure to disperse. But prosecutor Barry Motsch told the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram that the cocaine charge was dropped after Sprinkle passed a drug test following his release from jail.
Sprinkle was fined $500 and received a 30-day suspended jail sentence and two years of probation.
Meyer previously said he would reevaluate Sprinkle’s status with the team if circumstances changed, though no immediate update was available.
