* Readers * So, tell me: What was the best Toledo had to offer in 2004?

12/24/2004

As this year draws to a close, let's give some thought to our Bests and Worsts.

I'm taking reader nominations for a host of local "awards" (such as they are). Check out the categories and e-mail me your entries ASAP!

Oh, one more thing: You'll fare better if you follow these simple guidelines.

No. 1: Don't just give me a list. Include the reasons for your nominations.

No. 2: Along that same line, wit counts A LOT. The less seriously you take this exercise, the better off we'll all be.

No. 3: No shameless plugs, please. I'm glad your great aunt's second cousin just opened a restaurant, but odds are good that I'll never deem this The Most Important Metro Toledo Occurrence of 2004.

Ready? Go!

• Most Influential Metro Toledoan of 2004.

Give this some thought, and you might be surprised by coming up with someone who isn't an obvious first choice.

• Metro Toledoan Who Most Deserved To Be Exiled To Southeast Michigan in 2004.

Hard to pick just one, maybe, but try.

• Most Under-Appreciated Metro Toledoan of 2004.

Who flew under the radar, and why?

• Most Important Metro Toledo Occurrence of 2004.

Was it the opening of Levis Commons? The closing of the Brazil Market? It all depends on your perspective.

• Toledoan Who Should Run Against Mayor Jack Ford.

Hint: Someone already nominated a bottle of No-Doz, so you'll have to keep ruminating over this one.

• Political Match-Up You'd Most Like to See.

Go crazy - you can pit any of our local politicians against zoo animals, for all we care!

• And finally ... don't neglect submissions for the Toledo In/Out list.
