Blade staff writer Kelly McLendon has a few exciting environmental events in the area to report from her Sylvania beat that happened over the past week.

Partners for Clean Streams, the organization that hosted the 16th Annual Clean Your Streams project last month released a few statistics on the event, including that 1,175 people participated and 18,882 pounds of trash were removed.

She also visited Camp Miakonda, which was being used as an ecological learning center and reports on plans to construct Smith's Ditch in Sylvan Prairie Park.
