Southview, Northview fall

BOWLING GREEN — In a back-and-forth Northern Lakes League boys basketball opener, Southview rallied to send it to overtime but Bowling Green stepped up defensively to hold on for a 72-67 win in OT.

The Bobcats held the Cougars to three points in overtime and scored eight points to take the home victory.

Southview led 38-34 at the half.

BG outscored the Cougars 21-11 in the third quarter to go up 55-49.

However, Southview (0-2) rallied back to tie it.

BG (2-0) then hit four of six free throws in overtime.

Bobcats senior Vitto Brown led his team with 26 points, while Andrew Herringshaw chipped in with 19.

Southview’s Matt Morrison led all scorers with 27 points. J.J. Pinckney scored 12 and Brandon Stweart added 11.

Maumee 48, Northview 44

Jason Wanamaker led Maumee (1-0, 1-0) with 24 points on the way to a NLL victory on the road.

Dominique King added 12 points for the Panthers.

Connor Hartnett paced Northview (1-1, 0-1) with 14 points. Jeff Czerniakowski added 12 points and Nate Bartlett scored 11.
