Town Talk: Carla Woodell

Carla Woodell, a graphic designer in the University Relations department at Lourdes University, moved to northwest Ohio six years ago. While she enjoys discovering the local Metropark system, she is also involved with rescuing greyhound dogs.

Get to know Carla a little better:

1. Tell us about your work with a greyhound rescue organization.

After assisting with retired greyhound rescues from a racetrack, I learned that these dogs are euthanized when they can longer race or simply didn’t race fast enough. It’s upsetting to think that this mentality still exists. Working with an organization is a rewarding experience while helping to educate the public about the gentle breed so that the retired, adoptable greyhounds can find a forever home.

2. How long have you worked at Lourdes? 6 years

3. What's your favorite season? Spring is my favorite season when the flowers and trees start to bloom.

4. Favorite food? Low country shrimp and grits. Sweet tea. (It's a southern thing).

5. Any hobbies? I design dog collars.

6. Where were you born? Greenville, S.C.

7. Favorite holiday? Christmas

8. What's something interesting or unique about you? I’m a southerner that moved to Northwest Ohio 6 years ago. This has been a great adventure discovering what this region has to offer including Lake Erie and the islands, the history, the Metroparks and experiencing all four seasons (okay, minus the winters!)

9. Favorite color? Lime green with a splash of orange

10. What is the best Sylvania restaurant? Mancy’s Italian
