Springfield Township trustees have rejected a fact finder’s report on a wage re-opener of the contract with the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 3544 that expires Dec. 31, 2013.
The union had asked for a 5 percent across-the-board increase, with an additional 5 percent for dispatchers, for 2013, according to the Ohio State Employment Relations Board. The township trustees wanted a pay freeze.
The fact finder, Betty Widgeon, recommended a 2.5 percent pay increase.
The union, which has 36 full-time firefighters and four dispatchers, accepted the report.
