Start of classes scheduled at redone Bataan school

Port Clinton City School’s Jefferson Elementary’s last day was Dec. 21, as part of the transition to the renovated Bataan Memorial Intermediate Elementary on Friday. Students in grades 3, 4, and 5 will not have school on Wednesday or Thursday, school officials said. A community open house is set from 10 a.m. to noon on Jan. 12.

The Bataan work is part of a $42 million project paid in part by the School Facilities Project and from proceeds from a 3.63-mill, 37-year bond issue approved in 2009.
