Hunger awareness, recycling, sports among highlights of Perrysburg weekend

A tennis tournament, hunger awareness event, monthly recycling, and high school sports are on tap this weekend in Perrysburg.

■ COMEDY

At the Funny Bone Comedy Club: Fat Fish Blue, 6140 Levis Commons Blvd., comedians Christopher Titus has shows at 8 and 10:30 p.m. on Friday, 7 and 10 p.m. on Saturday, and 7 p.m. Sunday. Mr. Titus has released several comedy albums and hour-long Comedy Central specials.

■ HUNGER

Zoar Lutheran Church is hosting a northwest Ohio Bread for the World Hunger Advocacy Training and Gathering from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday. There will be updates on what the organization is doing for the poor and hungry as well as opportunities to meditate and pray. At noon, there be shown a hunger documentary called A Place at the Table. Breakfast will be provided at the free public event. Zoar is located at 314 East Indiana Ave.

■ MUSIC

Pete Fetters will play at Stella's restaurant in downtown Perrysburg on Friday. Brian Bocian will perform on Saturday.

The Late Show will play at J. Patrick's Pub at the Holiday Inn French Quarter Friday and Saturday from 9:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.

■ RECYCLING

From 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Perrysburg Township is offering recycling outside the maintenance building. The township accepts electronics that need recycled through Recycle I.T. USA.

■ SPORTS

At 4 p.m. Friday, the Perrysburg varsity wrestling team is competing in the Maumee Bay Invitational at Clay.

At 6:15 p.m. Friday, the Perrysburg varsity girls basketball team is playing at Bowling Green.

At 7:30 p.m. Friday, the Perrysburg varsity boys basketball team is playing at Bowling Green.

At 7:30 p.m. Saturday, the Perrysburg varsity boys basketball team plays at Waite.

At 7:30 p.m. Saturday, the Perrysburg varsity girls basketball team plays at Central Catholic.

■ TENNIS TOURNAMENT

The Perrysburg Tennis Center's Sixth Annual Junior Winter Open is this weekend from Friday through Sunday. The tournament has 85 players registered boys and girls from 10 to 18 years old. Players came from throughout Ohio, several Michigan competitors, and one girl from Pittsburgh.
