Toledo Area Artists plan 92nd annual exhibition

Mexico's Toledo, a show of surrealist prints by contemporary Mexican artist Francisco Toledo, will run March 12 through May 9 in Gallery 18 in the Toledo Museum of Art.

Also at the museum, Setting Up the Shot, a free camera workshop, will demonstrate how to create stellar photographs. It's at 7:30 p.m. March 12 in Classroom 139.

Artists Jerry Gray and Kerry Krow will paint to tunes mixed by local deejays, 7 to 10 p.m. March 11 in the museum's GlasSalon at the Glass Pavilion. Tickets are $30 for the Art of Funk evening, part of the 2445 Series. Music, food, and cocktails will be offered, as well as membership deals. Reservations: 419-245-7432.

The Arts Commission of Greater Toledo has announced promotions and new staff. Jennifer Jarrett, who had been development coordinator, is promoted to deputy director. She joined the commission in 2006 as a grant writer. Dan Hernandez is the new public art coordinator, replacing Adam Russell. Ryan A. Bunch is assistant programs coordinator, a part-time, one-year position funded by an American Recovery and Reinvestment Act grant.

Bridget Adams Brewer fills a new post as creative industry development coordinator, charged with increasing the organization's Web presence, e-marketing, entrepreneurial training, and professional development for artists.

Kimberly Arden's jewelry will be at 20 North Gallery, and she will be at the opening reception, 6 to 9 p.m. March 12. Arden, who teaches polymer clay and painting, will demonstrate her intricate polymer mosaic work on April 16 as part of the downtown Meet & Greet. Her show ends April 24.

The Edgerton Art Studio and School has opened at 26963 Eckel Rd. in Perrysburg, Owner Monica Edgerton-Sperry and others will teach small-class and individual sessions for all levels, teens through adult, in drawing, painting, figurative, live-model, and botanical illustration. Art by people working in the Kan Du Studio in Findlay will be displayed through March 25 in the Library Gallery at the Findlay-area campus of Owens Community College, on Bright Road.
