Harp concerts, workshops at Sauder Village

The annual Harp Gathering at Sauder Village in Archbold is set for Friday through Sunday. Eighteen workshops and three public concerts are on the schedule. Tapestry, featuring Denise and Michael Grupp-Verbon, will be joined by gospel-jazz harpist Frank Voltz of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Wisconsin-based recording artist Kim Robertson at 7 p.m. Friday. Nova Scotia harpist-songwriter Timothy Harper, Canadian Celtic and lever harpist Sharlene Wallace, and Californian Lisa Lynne will performat 7:30 p.m. Saturday, and the Harp Gathering Ensemble will perform at 11:30 a.m. Sunday. The second annual Midwest Derby Summit comes to SeaGate Convention Centre Saturday, featuring two mini roller-derby bouts and two main bouts. Participating will be Toledo's Glass City Rollers, the Ohio Roller Girls of Columbus, the Rollergirls of Central Kentucky (R.O.C.K.), based in Lexington, and the Sandusky Rollergirls. Doors open at 5 p.m.; the action starts at 6. The Chenille Sisters perform at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Franciscan Theater and Conference Center of Lourdes College as part of the inaugural Chocolate is Love benefit for Bittersweet Farms. The Ann Arbor-based trio is known for exquisite harmonies interspersed with wit and wisdom. Products made by residents of Bittersweet Farms, which helps those with autism, will be sold at the event.
