A variety of sounds are scheduled downtown

The Downtown SoundTrek, which starts at 7 p.m. Friday, will feature 30 bands and buses running loops between 13 venues. Featured will be hip-hop, rock, DJ, dance music, jazz, blues, funk, soul, rockabilly, folk, and bluegrass. Venues are clustered in two areas: the Arena District and the Uptown neighborhood, and include the Attic on Adams, The Blarney Bullpen, Bozarts Gallery, Bretz, Glass City Cafe, Manhattan's Restaurant, Ottawa Tavern, PizzaPapalis, Table Forty4, Toledo School for the Arts, Toledo City Paper, Truth Art Gallery, and Wesley's Bar. Wristbands are $15 in advance at any participating location, $20 the day of the event, or $5 per venue. The first-time event ends at 1 a.m. Saturday. Information: 419-254-2787 and acgt.org.

The world's top professional golfers age 50 and older will be in Toledo Monday through July 31 for the 2011 U.S. Senior Open at Inverness Club, 4601 Dorr St. A variety of ticket packages are available, with the daily grounds ticket going for $50. Information is available at 2011ussenioropen.com.

The burning question of the day -- Who has the best pizza in northwest Ohio? -- will be decided this weekend at Pizza Palooza at Centennial Terrace, 5773 Centennial Rd., Sylvania. From 5 p.m. to midnight Friday and 4 p.m. to midnight Saturday, visitors can sample and vote for their favorite pizza vendors. Children's activities run from 5 to 8:30 p.m. each day. Scheduled to entertain are Boffo and The Danger Brothers Friday and Kentucky Chrome, MAS FiNA, and Scott Fish and the Distant Kouzins on Saturday. At the gate, tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children 5-12; children under 5 will be admitted free. Advance tickets are available at Metamora State Bank and The Anderson's Market.

The Lucas County Fair runs Tuesday through July 31 at 1406 Key St., Maumee. Ticket prices vary by day, and admission is free for everyone from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday. A list of events is available at lucascountyfair.com.
