Another jazz club is coming to Water Street.

The site formerly occupied by Murphy's Place will open again in September, this time with the street address, 151 Water St., incorporated into the name: 151 On the Water.

Mike Scott, whose jazz show can be heard on WCWA-AM (1230) from 6 to 9 a.m. weekdays, is behind the endeavor, and he's pretty excited about it. Though he's in the middle of obtaining permits and is still working out numerous details, Scott said he wants the club to maintain the welcoming environment that people were familiar with when it was Murphy's, which closed in May.

"The decor will not be hugely different, but I do want to keep some of the Murphy's love," said the radio personality, whose program can also be heard at mikescottjazzshow.com. "The ambiance is really nice and always has been. When you walk in, you feel comfortable."

Targeting the theme of "great music and great cuisine," Scott expects to open his jazz club's doors about the second week of September.

"The music will be superb," he said.

He said patrons can expect to hear live entertainment at least four nights a week from local and national jazz greats.

Meanwhile, when he opens, he'll try to have live entertainment during the 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. lunch hour. Dinner will begin at 4:30 and run through 10:30 p.m. Brunch on Sundays is set for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

New York strip and prime rib steaks are among the attractions Scott plans for the menu. He's aiming for the meals to be $20 and less.

"It will definitely be the best place for the most quality of entertainment," said Scott.
