Prizm members to exhibit works inspired by TMA collection

Works inspired by art in the Toledo Museum of Art and crafted by members of Prizm Creative Community will be displayed July 23 through Oct. 2 in the museum's Community Gallery. Both visual and literary pieces will be represented. Opening reception will be 6 to 8 p.m. July 23, featuring a string quartet from Perrysburg High School.

Also at the museum, the 1934 epic film, Cleopatra, starring Claudette Colbert, Warren William, and Henry Wilcoxon and directed by Cecil B. DeMille, will be screened at 7:30 p.m. July 29 in the Little Theater. The movie, which is free, is 102 minutes long.

And, the museum offers a free Family Art Festival, 1 to 5 p.m. July 31, at which participants can doodle with chalk, make sun or bubble prints, create a kite or pinwheel, and get their faces painted.

Thursday night is the Third Thursday Art Walk, at which 29 studios, shops, eateries, and galleries in and around downtown will be open from 6 to 9 p.m. Most are clustered in two areas: on St. Clair Street between Lafayette and Monroe streets, and in the Adams/14th streets neighborhood. Art on the Mall, the free, juried art fair organized by the University of Toledo Alumni Association, will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 31 on UT's Centennial Mall. In addition to goods made by 116 artisans, there will be live jazz, a children's area, and refreshments for sale. The mall is on the main campus at 2801 West Bancroft St. Information: 419-530-2586.

A Textural World, fiber art by Philippa Schrader, will open with a 4 to 7 p.m. reception July 29 at Siena arts Gallery, 105 Madison St. in Port Clinton.
