UT observatory to host Mars Watch Saturday

Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young tribute band Marrakesh Express to perform at Owens.

Tribute band Marrakesh Express will perform classic hits by Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young, Friday at Owens Community College's Center for Fine and Performing Arts. The band will perform in the college's Mainstage Theatre on Oregon Road in Perrysburg Township at 8 p.m. Among the regulars on the band's playlist are "Suite: Judy Blue Eyes," "Ohio," "Teach Your Children," "Our House," "Love the One You're With," and "Marrakesh Express." The band has performed across the country, including at the Woodstock 40th Anniversary Tribute Concert in 2009. Tickets are $26 and can by purchased online at owens.edu or by calling 567-661-2787.

Get a look at Mars Saturday as its orbit brings it as close to Earth as it can ever get, offering a spectacular view of the red planet. Ritter Planetarium-Observatory, on the University of Toledo's main campus, will host a viewing for the orbital alignment, which happens about every two and a half years. The Mars Watch will begin at 8:30 p.m. with a short presentation. If the skies aren't clear, Mars Watch will be postponed until 8:30 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $7 for adults, $5 for seniors and children 12 and under, and free for children 3 and younger. Tickets can be purchased at the door. For information call 419-530-4037.
