The title is not exactly modest -- after all the event is called the Biggest Week in American Birding -- but given the sheer volume of activities it's sure to match the hype.

The event is timed to coincide with the mass migration of songbirds over the northwest Ohio region roughly in the area of Ottawa County. Key sites for the week that starts Friday are Maumee Bay State Park, Metzger Marsh State Wildlife Area, Cedar Point National Wildlife Refuge, Magee Marsh State Wildlife Area, and Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge.

The big week in birding is expected to attract thousands of binocular-toting folks eager to check out the warblers, orioles, eagles, vultures, hawks, and numerous other flying creatures. Various talks, walks, demonstrations, and presentations will be taking place starting Friday until May 12.
