Comedian Lil Duval to tickle Funny Bone

Comedian Lil Duval will take the stage at the Funny Bone Comedy Club Friday through Sunday. A semifinalist on BET's Coming to the Stage?, Roland Powell, aka Lil Duval, has appeared in movies and music videos. He made his debut on BET's ComicView in 2004, where he appeared for three seasons. He also released two underground comedy DVDs: Dat Boy Funny (2003) and Put Your Hands on Me (2005). Hal Walker to play at First Unitarian Church Saturday at 8 p.m.

The 36th Annual Quilt Show runs through Sunday at Sauder Village in Archbold. The event will feature handmade quilts, lectures, demonstrations, shopping, and workshops with special guest Karen Kay Buckley, of Carlisle, Penn. Today's workshop is titled "Heard it Through the Grapevine," "Ocean Sunrise" on Friday, and a special dinner workshop, "From the Beginning: Album of a Quilter" will be Friday evening. Saturday's workshop is "Kansas Rose." The show is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. It's ladies night at Bags, Baubles, and Baskets, a fun-filled dinner and auction to honor cancer survivors and support the American Cancer Society. The benefit will begin at 6 p.m. today and includes purse raffles, a silent auction, grazing stations, and a cash bar. Josie Langsdorf will be recognized as the Honored Survivor. The event is at Parkway Place, 2592 Parkway Plaza, Maumee, and is open to the public, but is a "girls night out" event for women only. Kent, Ohio, singer/songwriter Hal Walker will play at the First Unitarian Church, 3205 Glendale Ave., Saturday at 8 p.m. A multi-instrumentalist with a soaring baritone voice, Walker is known for his engaging stage presence and ability to utilize a wide variety of styles, including world music, into his repertoire. His recent CD, "Home in Ohio," is a celebration of community, local history, and life in Ohio. The concert is free, but donations will be accepted.
