Celebrate and honor American troops and veterans at the annual Memorial Day Parade and Service at 10 a.m. Saturday in downtown Toledo. The event is the area's largest salute to veterans, and will feature marching bands, clowns, armed forces, and more. Groups and organizations marching in tribute will include the Shriners, Boy Scouts, area firefighters and law enforcement, mounted horse units, Glassmen Drum & Bugle Corps, high school marching bands, and Honor Guards. A memorial service will take place at the Civic Center Mall following the parade.

It's Flower Day Weekend at the Toledo Farmers' Market and a third day has been added to the event. From Saturday to Monday, guests can choose from thousands of plants from more than 60 vendors who will be selling their best plants, yard art, plant accessories, and crafts. Saturday will be the traditional Market Day with the spotlight on local produce, plants, and flowers. The regular Farmers' Market vendors will be joined by members of the Toledo Area Fruit and Vegetable Growers for a display of plants and produce on Sunday. Hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday. Craft and food vendors will be at the market, as well as a band. Boy Scouts will be on hand to carry and load purchases into vehicles. Information: toledofarmersmarket.com.

Experience the excitement and anticipation of battle as actors re-enact the historic battles that took place nearly 200 years ago at Fort Meigs. The events will take place Saturday and Sunday along with a ceremony to commemorate the 199th anniversary of the First Siege of Fort Meigs. Activities run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. On Saturday there will be a parade at 10 a.m., followed by musket and artillery demonstrations. At 1 p.m. there will be a rifle demonstration, followed by a 2 p.m. battle demonstration. The same demonstrations are planned for Sunday, as well as a Ladies' Tea, beginning at 1 p.m.

Admission is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors and $4 for students. Children 5 and younger are admitted free. For a complete list of activities, visit fortmeigs.org.
