Go back in time at Fort Meigs


War of 1812 re-enactors will commemorate the 200th anniversary of Fort Meigs on Saturday. The winter encampment will re-create what life was like as Fort Meigs was constructed. Visitors will witness drill and weapons demonstrations from the time period and see dozens of artifacts. Highlights will include tent tours, period cooking and construction demonstrations, and building activities. Indoor activities include carpentry and skilled trades, period sewing, spinning and weaving, and rope making. The event runs from 1 to 4 p.m. at Fort Meigs. Admission is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors, and $4 for students. Children age 5 and younger are admitted free. For more information visit fortmeigs.org.

The Art Supply Depo will display artwork by Toledo public schools students during a three-month-long gallery. The Toledo Public School Kids Art Exhibition opens Friday at the gallery, at 29 S. St. Clair St. in downtown Toledo. An opening reception will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Cookies and punch will be served. Through Feb. 21, works from students at Bowsher and Rogers high schools will be on display. An exhibit in March will feature the works of Scott and Waite high school students and in April, artists from Start and Woodward highs will be in the spotlight. The gallery is open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday. Weekend hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. Paint the town red and show your support for heart disease awareness at the same time. The American Heart Association's national Wear Red Day is Friday. Now in its 10th year, the national campaign is a fund-raiser for the American Heart Association and sheds light on the issue of heart disease in women. Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women, causing one in three deaths each year.
