11/25/2000

Authorities issued an arrest warrant for an East Toledo man in connection with a robbery Wednesday at the KeyBank branch at 324 Main St.

The FBI charged Wilbur Zimmerman, 37, with robbery in U.S. District Court in Toledo. Mr. Zimmerman has not been arrested.

Evidence was left after the robbery about 9:40 a.m. connecting Mr. Zimmerman to the incident, said Carl Spicocchi, supervisor of the Toledo FBI office. He declined comment on the evidence because an investigation is continuing.

During the robbery, a man pulled out a checkbook and asked for the date before handing a teller a demand note, police said. An undisclosed amount of money was taken. Authorities are investigating whether another person was involved in the robbery, possibly driving a getaway vehicle.

Anyone with information on Mr. Zimmerman's whereabouts is asked to call the Crime Stopper program at 255-1111 or the FBI at 243-6122. A reward of up to $2,000 is also being offered by the Tri-County Reward Program.
