A Toledo man and a Maumee woman were arrested and jailed yesterday after a botched robbery at a Taco Bell restaurant in South Toledo, authorities said.
Steve A. James, 21, whose last known address was in the 3200 block of Mercer Street, and Stacey L. Zsiros, 18, of the 1000 block of Leith Street, were arrested about 3 a.m. at the restaurant.
Mr. James was hiding in the walk-in cooler at the restaurant at 1817 South Reynolds Rd., while Ms. Zsiros was waiting in a car in the parking lot, police said.
Corey Stallworth and Amber Wood, Taco Bell employees, told police they had just closed the restaurant, dropped the money into the safe, and were ready to leave about 2:50 a.m. Mr. Stallworth was cleaning the snow off his car when a man ordered him at gunpoint back into the restaurant. Mr. James collected some loose change and was about to force the two employees to open the locked safe when police arrived, police said.
The two suspects were charged with aggravated robbery, arraigned in Toledo Municipal Court, and booked into Lucas County jail, where Mr. James was held in lieu of $50,000 bond and Ms. Zsiros in lieu of $25,000 bond.
