Fire does $90,000 damage at South Toledo home

12/9/2000

A blaze that caused about $90,000 in damage at a South Toledo home last night destroyed an attic, a garage, and a classic car parked there, Battalion Chief Louis Santiago said.

The garage attached to the single-story brick home of Maxine Harris, 46 Wenz Rd., caught fire about 7:45 p.m. from a fire that began in a 1984 Jaguar, and quickly spread to the attic through the open garage door. It was unclear what caused the car fire, Chief Santiago said.

It took firefighters about 45 minutes to get the blaze under control.

A fire investigation unit ruled the blaze accidental, Chief Santiago said.
